A native of rural Battle Lake, Minnesota, growing up on Blanche Lake.  Ross received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on polymers and coatings from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1999. Ross then worked for Rosemount Inc. in Chanhassen MN as an applications engineer prior to attending law school. 

After this employment, Ross began law school in at the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Law in Grand Forks.  He received his Juris Doctorate degree in 2004.

Ross is a licensed attorney in State and Federal Courts in Minnesota and North Dakota.  Ross is registered to practice as a Patent Attorney by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Ross has practiced law in Fargo, North Dakota since 2004.
